Day 94: Zero at The Cabin

I slept through breakfast today. I think the last 11 days have caught up with me and my body-raw rash or not-was slap over it. I never miss a meal and I just had no strength to get up, and no will power either. So, I slept in until close to 8:30. It felt amazing!

When I finally did get up, everyone was either already shuttled to the trail or off doing something else-so I just sleepily laid around and did nothing. At some point I did eat my poptarts and wash my pack and hang it to dry.. but that’s literally the most I accomplished.

Around 11:45 I took a nap, the first real nap I can say I’ve had in a very long time (besides the day I slept a lot in Hanover with Lyme’s disease). I woke up again after 3pm because I was sweating. The screened in porch is great at night, but pretty miserable during the day.

I went for a walk with a 19 year old named BlessedBillygoat. I’ll be honest, he’s very kind but I’m a little worried about him. Some of the stuff he was saying seemed a bit… strange. I’m happy he’s on trail and away from the home life that he was telling me about. We walked like half a mile or so and then headed back. My rash is all scabbed over so it feels much better today. Then again, I haven’t put my full pack on yet-so we shall see what tomorrow brings.

I laid around and updated the blog, attempted to pay bills, download some audiobooks, that sort of thing. The WiFi here and service in general isn’t fantastic, so I didn’t make it very far on any of those endeavors really. Around 4:30, Don (Honey’s son) said he was going to the store and asked if we wanted to go.. 5 of us did. I got strawberry milk again lol

Dinner was at 6pm like always and included salad, spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread and corn on the cobb. I’ve been eating that corn like a lunatic! It’s just so dang good! They served ice cream and brownies, but I skipped out on that because of all the other food I ate, plus the dairy from the milk has been making my stomach turn gargle-y flips.. I don’t think my fellow hikers will appreciate me if the stomach flips turn into toots.

It started raining while we were eating, and now I’m happy I’m sleeping under a roof. I’m mostly packed and ready for tomorrow, and Hopper let me know that I get to split my shuttle 3 ways tomorrow morning.. so all in all, I’m so happy for the zero today. Cheaper shuttle, more good food, a much needed day of rest, and a comfy nights sleep listening to the rain. What more could a girl want?

Goodnight y’all. And sorry for the lack of pictures.. I kind of forgot to take any today.. I took that whole “relaxing” thing to heart lol
